From the earliest of Psalms attributed to Moses in Psalm 90:1-2 the eternal God is the same thought in John’s gospel about the pre-existent Christ in John 1:1-3 and it’s repeated in Revelation 4:11, with the repeated declaration of this life as eternal in 1st John 5:11. Why do people still search for the origin of life? The unique character and existence of God is proclaimed through Isaiah when he pointed to King Cyrus as God’s “Anointed” to re-establish his people in Israel for Salvation while captive in Babylon. See Isaiah 45:1-7, where the repeated phrase “I am” projects a promising future for God’s children. Jesus identifies and proclaims to be the “I Am” in John 8:58-59 in the face of his fiercest critics that would have known Isaiah’s prophecies very well. John writes extensively on the pre-existence of Jesus, 7:29, 33, 8:14, 13:3, 16:28 & 17:24. John points us to Jesus as God, fulfilling Jeremiah’s prophecy in Jeremiah 23:5-6 (Exodus 6:2) “the name by which he will be called: The LORD (Jehovah) Our Righteousness”.
John 1:23 & Isaiah 40:3, “Prepare The Way of The Lord, Make Straight in the wilderness, a highway for our God”.
John 4:10, 7:38 & Zechariah 14:8 “Living Waters will go out from Jerusalem”
John 6:43-51 & Isaiah 54:13, “All Your Children will be taught By The Lord”
John 12:15 & Zechariah 9:9, “Your King is coming to you, he is righteous, victorious, humble, riding on a donkey, on a colt the foal of a donkey”
John 12:38-46 & Isaiah 53:1 & Isaiah 6:9-10. “Who has Believed our Report & To Whom is the Arm of the Lord Revealed?”
John 19:37 & Zechariah 12:10. “They will look upon Him whom they Pierced”
